The creation of Il Pezzettino

The communities of Il Pezzettino have existed since March 2016. Working with abandoned , mistreated , abused children and with adults who survived painful childhoods, the desire to help encounter after encounter, has grown over the years. A traumatized child is a child who can forget about himself, put himself on hold, and be looking for words to express what he is confusedly feeling inside without being able to find them. Victims of a violence that has marked their way of seeing the world and relationships with people, they approach with fear what is home, affection, trust. When they arrive at Il Pezzettino, these children can experience in small steps the re-appropriation of their body, their integrity and dignity, giving a new meaning to the sense of being at home. What has always struck us in traumatized children over the years is their vision of the world: gray, catastrophic, often hostile. However, the world can appear different to them if they can begin to see it again, trusting the heart.

IL PEZZETTINO IN THREE WORDS

  • CURE

    It is the cure that cures pain, that of the mind and that of the body.
In the community there is room for activities and growth outlooks in the face of the still,  blocking time of violence. There is space to heal trauma and bereavement.
 The Cure has the ambition to heal those holes in the soul generated by not having been seen, wanted, by not being able to tell the truth. The children who arrive at Il Pezzettino come from an incomprehensible world, made up of secrets and fears. The treatment allows them to develop a sense of effectiveness and self-esteem, to feel precious and protected, up to the point of re-writing their own internal experience by saying "I can be loved and understood", "I can be with others without fear of being rejected or of being bad".

  • HOME

    Home is where you feel free to be yourself and never feel alone.
 We think of the community as a place to become attached to and to take refuge in. The community is a home made up of people, passionate professionals, who welcome each child and value the group as a precious learning experience. 
In a house there is room for everyone and you learn the beauty of "for everyone".
 Home is the place where new memories can be created. Il Pezzettino does not want to be a space in which to erase bad memories or neutralize them but wants to present itself as a builder of "alternative memory", in which children can experience growth in a tuned and affective environment.

  • GOOD

    Good is what captures our attention, producing in us, in a completely inexplicable and unpredictable way, multiple emotions and moods, stimulating our thinking and stimulating our imagination.
Good is to make up for and fill in all that has been deprivation, confusion and harshness of experiences. Il Pezzettino wants to commit itself to promoting the culture of the good health and of what is good for growth and is a legacy of the future through: healthy nourishment, that is a quality table, beautiful games to be able to interact with the outside world but also to get in touch with your internal world, a beautiful home, to experience the experience of a warm and welcoming nest, tailor-made activities for children and young people, respectful of everyone's tastes and inclinations so that they can be connections in the memory of stimulating and regenerating constructive experiences.

The daily life, the places in the neighbourhood crowded with familiar faces, the feeling of being thought of and cared for by many people, and not receiving judgmental looks.
This helps children to experience different things and to cherish the hope of change.
